​In a large, completely dark room, the observer enters through the curtain and is momentarily blinded until they can focus on the light.
The circular light, somewhat dim, appears at the back of the room near the bottom, illuminating two small stainless steel shelves holding small gold-plated stones.
These stones are molds of crack rocks, each with the minimum weight that a white person and a black person need to carry to be sent to prison
In 2019, I gained access to over 100 drug trafficking cases from the Criminal Court.
One of the most striking numbers was the case of a black person arrested for carrying just 1.5g of cocaine (around 8 lines), and a white person who was arrested with only 3.5g of marijuana (approximately 6 joints).
